Gelupo London Vegan Ice Cream Review
Strawberry and pink peppercorns, Tomato, Basil and even Avacado!…You What? Yip, Gelupo London offers a vegan frozen treat experience like no other.
Want to try some wacky flavours??
Then this is the place for YOU!
Gelupo London doesn’t do ordinary sorbets.
I’ve seen some of their recent creations involving fruit leaves, Gin, Basil.
And get this…
Avocado! Yeah, you and me both.
They’ve got some guts!
By the way, with these wacky flavours, I strongly advise you to try before you buy.
Even though the Avacado sounded great, It wasn’t.
Not that it was awful, but frosty sweetened Avadaco just didn’t give me that flavour explosion I was hoping for.
I mean…Avacado sorbet – Seriously??
But that’s what I LOVE about them.
They sure ain’t afraid of being different and that’s what makes them one of the BEST gelateria in central London.
It leaves Snowflake Gelato looking a bit sad for itself.
Yet, not a touch on Yorica ice cream parlour – the king of vegan icecreams!
Seasonal Dairy Free Flavours
Winter, summer, autumn or spring, Gelupo’s ever-changing menu has a super fresh range of seasonal sorbets to celebrate each season.
Their creative menu keeps visitors coming back time and time again.
Oh, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself queueing down the street to get in.
Apparently, this is normal at any time of the day.
Just don’t do what I did.
Walk away and assume the queue will be gone when you return – Haha!
Trust me on this, stay in the queue. It’s a LOOONG stretch but worth it.
The parlour itself is TINY and tucked away in a hidden side street in Soho.
So count yourself lucky if you find a seat to plant your butt!
Wacked Up Flavours
Now we’re on to the best part.
Blood Orange, Bitter Chocolate and Strawberry and Pink Peppercorn.
Let’s start with the bitter chocolate.
PURE unadulterated D E C A D E N C E !!!
Thick, creamy and SO deeply intense, it was frigging rich!
Like…hokey pokey! rich.
Just imagine sucking on your favourite piece of sweet rich dark chocolate and allowing it to melt slowly on your tongue…
Death by chocolate! Best way to go 🙂
Blood oranges were in season when I visited so I decided to give it a bash.
This death like chocolate accompanied with the blood orange is legendary.
Sweet, fresh, almost sherbet like taste to start with and then you’re left with a bitter orange taste at the back of your tongue…
Its was BLOOMING GOOD!
If you haven’t tried it, you need to try it.
If you have already – you need to go back.
My least favourite was the Strawberry and pink peppercorn.
Even though the strawberry was beautifully fruity, I didn’t get much pepper coming through at all.
This is probably due to the fact that pink peppercorns have more of a floral taste, with touches of fruity sweetness and only gives off a hint of spice.
Hence why black pepper is used with strawberries, it’s more intense.
So yeah, a little disappointed with the pink peppered strawberry, yet a good sorbet.
In all, Gelupo is deffo the better thing to do in London to help sweeten your life.
It’s a MUST on my list – How about you?
Have you indulges in Gelupo’s Alpine-inspired ice-cream?
(I know it’s sorbet but still, it makes us dairy free guys feel happy).
Let me know your favourite flavour.
Com’on, I’m eager to know 🙂
