When You Get That Yorica Moment
What an amazing find !!!!!
This is NOT your FAKE dairy-free ice cream they call sorbet.
Oh no, this is the real thing!
Smooth, creamy, refreshing and scrum-diddly-umtious!
Ok, enough said…what’s it made of?
Simple. They use rice milk and coconut cream as a base for their ice creams.
Yorica offers a real plethora of vegan and free from ice cream flavours.
And they’ve literally gone bonkers with the toppings.
From groovy fresh fruits to dry toppings such as cookies, marshmallows, brownies AND gummy bears for goodness sake!
And when I mean cookies…
I don’t mean your poxy little cookie crumbs.
I’m talking FULL ON whole cookies and even Oreos.
Check out this biscuit beast!
Oh, and did I not mention the ENDLESS supply of sprinkles.
Yorica! Freedom in a Tub
I choose the Banoffee, Mint Choc and PeaNOT flavours.
The Banoffee I LOVED most.
Sweet toffee sauce swirled amongst creamy ice cream that had a full-on banana BANG flavour.
Up there with the banoffee was the Mint Choc.
Mintylicious or what!
Creamy and clean tasting, it left my breath kissable.
I’m not saying that my breath stinks at all…
Anyway, I wish I could say the same for the PeaNOT flavour.
To be honest, I thought it tasted a bit artificial.
Granted, I GET that it doesn’t contain nuts, but it could do with a rethink on flavour.
In conclusion, all their flavours shine through with plenty of OOMF.
Top Up on Toppings
Like I’ve already mentioned, there’s a TRUCKLOAD of tasty toppings.
Having already stuffed my tub with 3 ice cream flavours…
With great sadness, there wasn’t much room left to hold many toppings.
Seriously, if I fitted anymore on, it would have caved in.
And I would have likely ended up in a diabetic coma!
For my toppings of choice, I had a tiffin brownie, a jammy dodger and some sprinkles.
Oh, and just out of guilt, I thought I’d better have some Passionfruit.
You know, to be healthy. Gotta watch those calories right? Haha!
The jammy dodgers are made from soy flour and tasted pretty good.
I think next time, I’ll give the tiffin brownie a miss.
I don’t know how to say this any other way…
But it tasted of nothing.
That’s right. No taste of chocolate, biscuit or sugar even.
Either they forgot to add the sugar or that I was going mad. Yet, my husband and daughter agreed that it was bland as air.
As for the Passionfruit, fresh, zingy and beautifully refreshing.
Yorica Dairy Free Ice cream Location – Soho
Currently, there are two Yorica ice cream parlours in London.
One in Soho and the other in Notting Hill.
Yorica in Soho is the largest of the two parlours.
They prepare their dairy free ice cream in their tiny kitchen basement.
Which doesn’t surprise me considering the shop itself is a dinky little place.
It’s pretty HEAVING in there so BE prepared to FIGHT your way through some hungry free from addicts!
It Ain’t Cheap! ££££
Ok, I’ve heard MANY peeps screaming about the price.
Yes…it’s a bit hefty on price, especially if you got a family to treat.
But, it’s worth every penny!
Prices range from £4.25 to £6.25 and that’s without any toppings.
What do you get with a small tub costing £4.25?
I’ll be frank. Not a lot!
You could bearly fit a scoop of ice cream in the tub and 1 topping, maybe 2 if you’re determined.
That being said,
It’s not often you come across an ice cream parlour serving REAL ice cream in magical flavours and free from all 14 major allergens.
And I think they know that! >>> Hence the ££££.
Mind you, the toppings can REALLY add up.
65p a POP! So go easy.
Organic Free From Ice Cream Ingredients – Yorica!
I have to give them credit for using organic whenever possible.
Whatsmore, even the sprinkles are coloured using ingredients like red pepper and turmeric.
That’s another reason why I travelled right across London to eat ice cream here.
Look here. Every glorious lick of ice cream contains:
- Rice milk
- Seaweed (natural thickener)
- Vanilla bean paste
- crystalline fructose (nutritious sweetener)
- xanthan gum (texture aid)
- Guar gums (stabilising properties)
- Natural fruit sugars
And it doesn’t just stop at ice cream…
Waffles + More – Gluten free Gloriousness!!
How about a groovy shake swirled with coconut cream?
Or a Fro-Yo? (frozen yoghurt).
Oh boy, what about waffles with coconut cream, strawberries and fake Nutella?
Which I WILL be trying on my next visit.
Again, ALL topped off in style with as MANY sweet toppers you can fit in the tub/cup.
Or in my case, my gut! Hehe.
Yorica seriously knows how we free from addicts work.
They’ve really nailed it for sure!
As Tina Turner says “Their simply the BEST” vegan, gluten and dairy free ice cream in London.
And I’ve tried a lot,
So much so, I can’t feel my tongue! ICE COOOLD.
Snowflake Gelato is another ice cream parlour in London, which is OK, but it ain’t got nowt on Yorica.
