Zizzi Gluten Free Vegan Pizza Review
My first pizza at Zizzis! Stay with me here and read all about my Zizzi Gluten-Free Vegan Pizza Review.
It’s official!
All Zizzi’s classic pizzas can now be made using their gluten free base.
There are quite a few vegan and gluten free dishes listed on the menu and they have separate menus for both.
I love easy ordering!
Good news:
If you like chilli, then you can upgrade your gluten free dough to a smoky chilli-infused dough.
And there’s more good news.
They have a vegan and gluten free dessert on the menu to finish off nicely.
Veganism Appetizer & Starter
Whenever I’m eating Italian, I religiously start off with olives.
I freaking LOVE them!
For starters, I fancied my chances on the VEGAN ‘BEETBALL’ POLPETTE.
It’s absolutely mouth tantalizing!
Pink beetroot ‘beetballs’, oven-baked in a Pomodoro sauce with melted vegan Mozzarisella, fresh oregano and chilli threads.
This dish was SO tasty.
The beetballs just fell apart in my mouth.
To top it off,
The Pomodoro sauce was rich, strong and FULL of tomatoey tanginess.
Although the vegan melted cheese didn’t add any flavour of cheesiness to it,
It did make the dish look fancy.
Award Winning Pizza
Yes, it’s an award-winning vegan pizza – Awarded by Peta.
And rightly so!
I opted for the VEGAN PEPPERONATA.
Glad I did. It was delizioso.
Mouth satisfying tomato, fire-roasted peppers, hot roquito chillies, sunblush tomatoes, pea shoots topped with Mozzarisella cheese.
The tomato sauce was full of rich zing and the heat from the chillies made my mouth sing!
This is most definitely up there with the best tasting vegan pizzas I ever had.
Way better than the vegan pizza I had at Pizza Express.
Mozzarisella Cheese
If truth be told.
I’ve tasted MUCH better vegan cheese than this.
It didn’t taste anything like cheese whatsoever.
And it had NO stringiness to it at all.
It just looked like partially melted coconut oil and liquid rice – which is exactly what it is.
YET, the amazing thing is,
Mozzarisella cheese is made entirely from 100% organic germinated Italian whole rice.
No milk or lactose and completely free from soya, gluten, lactose, food colouring and preservatives.
Look:
The full list of ingredients:
- Italian brown rice (germinated with spring water and made into a vegan drink).
- Agar – Agar (jelly-like substance, obtained from algae)
- Coconut Oil
- Carob Flour
- Xanthan
- Gum Arabic
- Apple Vinegar
- Oregano flower infusion
Pretty healthy list of ingredients if I do say so myself.
Personally, I LOVED the pizza.
